Optical Table Tops
Honeycomb Optical Table Tops
Standa honeycomb optical table tops provide a rigid and stable working surface for demanding optical, photonics and laser applications. Their steel honeycomb construction combines mechanical rigidity, surface flatness and vibration damping, making them suitable for precision laboratory, research and industrial setups.
The 1HT series features a 5 mm thick ferromagnetic steel working surface with M6 mounting holes on a 25 mm grid. The holes are sealed by default, helping to prevent liquids and small particles from entering the internal honeycomb structure.

Available combinations depend on the selected dimensions and configuration. Please contact Te Lintelo Systems for the appropriate model and current availability.
Custom Optical Table Tops
For applications that cannot be accommodated with a standard table size, custom optical table tops can be supplied. This makes it possible to adapt the working surface to a specific optical system, machine or experimental configuration.
Laser ports can also be incorporated into the table top for routing laser beams, optical paths or cables through the working surface. Non-ferromagnetic versions and imperial tapped-hole patterns are available for applications requiring alternative materials or mounting standards.
Typical Applications
- Laser laboratories
- Photonics research
- Optical experiments
- Spectroscopy systems
- Interferometry
- Imaging and microscopy systems
- Precision positioning systems
- Optical metrology
- OEM test and measurement systems
Optical Breadboards
Honeycomb Optical Breadboards
Optical breadboards provide a compact and versatile mounting platform for optical and photonics experiments where a complete optical table is not required. They are particularly suitable for smaller setups, optical subassemblies and systems that need to be installed on an existing laboratory bench, machine frame or optical table.
The combination of a rigid construction and a regular mounting-hole pattern enables optical components, positioning stages, cameras, detectors and other equipment to be arranged and repositioned easily during system development.
Why Choose an Optical Breadboard?
An optical breadboard is often the preferred solution when an experimental setup occupies a relatively limited area or when an optical subsystem needs to be incorporated into a larger instrument or machine.
- Compact alternative to a full-size optical table
- Suitable for modular optical assemblies
- Can be mounted on an existing laboratory bench or optical table
- Useful for prototype development and experimental systems
- Suitable for integration into OEM equipment
- Available in different dimensions and configurations
Typical Applications
- Compact laser setups
- Optical subassemblies
- Spectroscopy experiments
- Imaging systems
- Camera and detector setups
- University and research laboratories
- Prototype development
- OEM instrumentation
- Optical test setups
- Experimental modules
Optical Table Top or Breadboard?
The correct platform depends primarily on the dimensions of the optical setup, the total equipment weight and the required level of mechanical and vibration stability.
| Selection Criteria | Optical Table Top | Optical Breadboard |
|---|---|---|
| Typical setup size | Medium to very large | Small to medium |
| Primary function | Main optical working surface | Compact optical mounting platform |
| Installation | Dedicated supporting frame | Workbench, frame or existing optical table |
| Typical use | Complete experimental systems | Optical modules and compact experiments |
| Large configurations | Yes | Generally intended for more compact setups |
| Vibration isolation | Can be combined with a suitable isolation system | Depends on the supporting structure |
Supports & Vibration Isolation
An optical platform is only one part of a stable optical system. Depending on the sensitivity of the application, the table top can be combined with a suitable supporting structure or vibration isolation solution.
For applications that are particularly sensitive to environmental vibration, an appropriate isolation solution can help reduce the transmission of floor vibration to the optical setup.
Need Help Selecting an Optical Table or Breadboard?
Selecting the correct optical platform depends on the required working area, equipment weight, optical configuration and sensitivity to vibration.
Te Lintelo Systems can assist with selecting the appropriate optical breadboard, table top, supporting structure and vibration isolation solution for your application.
Contact us with your required dimensions, equipment weight and application, and we will help you select the most suitable configuration.
