Automated Polarization Extinction Ratio Measurement System for MPO/MTP® PM Fiber Assemblies

banner_Logo_OZ-opticsOZ Optics Introduces Automated Polarization Extinction Ratio Measurement System for MPO/MTP® PM Fiber Assemblies

OZ Optics has introduced a new automated test platform designed for rapid and accurate polarization extinction ratio (PER) characterization of MPO/MTP® PM fiber patchcords, V-groove assemblies, and custom multi-fiber arrays. The turnkey solution combines an automated extinction ratio measurement system with a multi-channel polarized light source, enabling efficient testing of polarization-maintaining fiber assemblies in both production and R&D environments.

The system supports automatic fiber alignment through integrated motorized stages and can be configured with 12, 16, or 24-channel polarized light sources. Individual channel control allows users to perform multi-channel PER measurements on fiber arrays with varying channel pitches, including common spacing-s such as 125 µm and 250 µm.

Designed for photonic manufacturing and quality assurance applications, the platform delivers extinction ratio measurements up to 35 dB and provides an intuitive Windows-based software interface for automated testing and data collection. The system can be customized with user-specified fiber connectors and adapter configurations to match specific production requirements.

Typical application areas include:

  • Polarization-maintaining fiber component manufacturing
  • Optical communications and datacenter technologies
  • Coherent and high-speed communication systems
  • Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs)
  • Fiber sensing applications
  • Component characterization and troubleshooting
  • Research and development laboratories

The solution addresses the growing demand for repeatable, high-throughput testing of multi-fiber PM assemblies and offers a practical alternative to manual characterization methods.
