The management of high electrical energy supply is not a local matter. Occasionally this intervention must be accomplished with very short response times. The switchgear required for this are extensive installations which already impress just by their physical size. The precise alignment of the switchgear elements during the installation is an important contribution to safeguard their efficient and reliable operation. When the parts are satisfying these requirements, an additional benefit is that less time and effort is lost during the installation on site. The verification of the interfaces in the assembly plant is therefore an essential factor to avoid risks and expensive re-work during commissioning.

During the fitting of elements in gas insulated switchgear for transmission of energy in power systems with ultra-high extreme tensions of several hundred kV to above 1000 kV, heavy components are precisely positioned. Any inaccuracies must be corrected later in the field under potentially extremely difficult conditions. Therefore, the verification of the assembly quality is an important factor to avoid unnecessary follow-up costs. The time required with conventional tools such as a plumb bob, level and measuring tape is very long; however the result is not always satisfactory. Especially the requirement that every part has been verified to the same criteria and accuracy cannot be ascertained. This indicates that a permanent installation in the assembly area would be useful to support these measurements and provide repetitive and consistent results. The measuring point can be indicated accurately by laser markings, leaving the hands of the fitter free to accomplish his difficult task. This leads to significant time savings whilst measurements are taken consistently after the same criteria. From the experience in dealing with marking laser and years of collaboration with our partners ILEE has the capability to design and install such Turn-Key installations. Dealing with precision parts is in our bones. The requirements are defined together with the user and mainly consist of components which we have been familiar with for many years. The components are pre-assembled and tested in our factory and installed and calibrated during fitting at the customer’s site.
